Chant d’Oiseau
Just across the border in Germany, in the midst of the Eifel national park, sits an odd bird of a large building complex. Originally known as NS-Ordenburg Vogelsang, it was built by the Nazis in the late 1930s to house a military training school for future Nazi leaders. In certain ways Vogelsang represents the Nazi movement and philosophy in brick and concrete.

Return of History
After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Empire, some subscribed to what can be called ‘the end of history” philosophy, that liberal democracy had won the day and would remain unchallenged. It might have been better to say that history had taken a vacation. But as recent events have shown – particularly with Russia over the Ukraine – that vacation is over.
