Dear Parents,
Welcome back from Spring break! The next session of Hebrew School is this coming Saturday. Dafna has asked parents to please bring in some liquid glue for the kids to use for projects. Perhaps everyone could bring one?
Please note that on May 6th we will have a school-wide outing the afternoon after Hebrew School. More information to be shared soon.
It seems long ago now, but below is a summary from the teachers on the last lesson, which ended with a joint seder with all the students.
Introduction/Ma'agal and Kita Aleph (Dafna): We started the Ma'agal by reminding everyone the different names of Pesach. We then went over the names of the plagues and played a short game. After that we went over the brich rachamana bracha that we'd learned the previous week and the Four Questions.
During the Kita Aleph lesson we discussed the seder plate. We explained each item on the plate and made our own plate for the Seder. We then played a short game with the different symbols of Pesach - we asked questions trying to guess what they were, and then then completed a puzzle with them.
Kita Beit (Shaya): After the Ma'agal, we talked again about Magid, Eachtza, Motzie Matza, etc., which later we presented in the Seder. We continued to learn Hebrew words that are connected to Passover and we played a card game related to the vocabulary.
Bar Mitzvah class (Mayaan): After the Ma'agal we prepared for the Seder, specifically the last parts of the Seder, which our group presented. We learned about Hillel the Elder who used to eat the Maror and Matzah wrapped together and talked about his famous saying : "That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation".
We also learned a Mitzvah related to Pesach- Hachnasat Orchim (welcoming guests) and the tradition of inviting to the Seder meal anyone who wants to join and who may not have a place to eat.
